Four Bolton Clarke aged care communities on the Gold Coast have come together to celebrate fun, fitness and healthy competition at the annual HiJinx games.
When St George & Sutherland Hospitals planned construction of new buildings they knew that the community could play a role in bringing colour and life to the public spaces. Local amateur photographers were invited to submit photos of the St George and Sutherland region with the best ones chosen for permanent display in the new buildings. Free photography workshops were held to make sure member of the community wanting to contribute would have skills to get started.
It started with a piece of cake and a coffee as part of a community café program at SummitCare Wallsend, and has resulted in an program that will bring respite to carers of older Australians living in the area.
A new program aiming to make services in the aged care, health, human services and wellbeing sectors more inclusive of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people was recently launched in Sydney. The Pride in Health and Wellbeing program was created by the NSW LGBTI health organisation ACON as part of its Pride Inclusion Programs.
