Uniting AgeWell New Town Independent Living Units

Uniting AgeWell – New Town provides a welcoming and close-knit community for retirees, located in the beautiful suburb of New Town, which is just 10 minutes from the centre of Hobart.

Located just a few kilometres from the Hobart city centre, New Town is known as one of the city’s oldest suburbs. New Town is known for its tree-lined streets and historical colonial and art deco residences.

Our retirement village is located only a couple minutes’ walk to the New Town Plaza, where you’ll find a range of major shopping facilities and amenities. The plaza includes major supermarkets such as Coles, homewares and fashion from Kmart, a range of ATMs and banking facilities, medical services, chemists and newsagents.

We’re also less than 10 minutes away from Cornelian Bay, where you’ll find pleasant waterfront views. You’ll also find a number of small parks and reserves nearby, ideal for a quick nature walk or a picnic.

The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens is less than 10 minutes away, where you can enjoy the extensive range of flora and fauna. The gardens are home to some of the most significant and historical trees and landscapes in Australia.

Independent Living Units

We have three one-bedroom independent living units available. An independent living unit allows you to maintain your independence in your retirement, while also having the security of a tight-knit community and 24-hour emergency call system for your peace of mind.

We also have rental options available for those on a limited income, payable on a fortnightly basis.
