In 2011, Anam Cara Aged Care Community became the first aged care residence in Queensland to be awarded full Eden in Oz & NZ™ registration and only the second nationwide. Built in 2002, Anam Cara is home to 119 residents who live across six custom-designed lodges, which are interconnected with outdoor walkways, allowing ample natural light to fill the lodges.
All lodges are ground floor, with their own private outdoor balcony and easy access to the expansive gardens, where residents can entertain family and friends in the BBQ area and children’s playground.
All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, cabling for TV and phone, ensuite bathrooms, built in wardrobes and large windows. Full laundry services are also available, along with the ability to cater for specialised diets.
Being an ageing in place residence, Anam Cara staff provide responsive and flexible care in line with each resident’s changing needs. This means that residents are often able to receive further care without having to leave familiar surrounds. A personal profile also ensures staff can respond to resident’s individual needs, including medical, cultural, religious, and dietary. With 24-hour nursing staff on-site and regular visits from Wesley Mission Queensland’s own allied health professionals, staff can quickly respond to individual health needs in a holistic way.
Anam Cara has a dedicated team of Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinators who offer a myriad of exciting and new activities and events. These include bi-monthly outings, BBQ’s, happy hour, gardening group, carpet bowls and exercise classes. On-site services include a hair salon, chapel, community hall, outdoor entertaining area, and private retreat.
Pets are also welcome at Anam Cara.
