Horton House is a female only facility offering a wonderful homelike environment in a modern setting. We provide individual care and specialist services for women. At Horton House we take a holistic approach to our care focusing on health and wellbeing. Meals are freshly prepared daily by onsite chef’s. We also have an activities coordinator who delivers a lifestyle program keeping our residents healthy and active.
Horton House is located in the quiet, leafy suburb of Gordon in Sydney’s upper north shore and surrounded by beautiful properties and private schools. It incorporates a range of high end design and technological features, to ensure that residents are able to access individualised care programs.
The home offers accommodation for 45 women in single rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Horton House is security controlled and is suitable for people with early stage dementia.
Horton House at Gordon incorporates a range of high end design and technological features, to ensure that residents are able to access individualised care programs in a small home-like environment. The facility features multiple architecturally designed outdoor areas and garden spaces, including an internal courtyard which can be accessed on two levels.
The common areas boast a range of large and small spaces to facilitate participation in group activities, with smaller lounge and outdoor areas created to promote privacy, independence and quiet outdoor spaces. In addition to the larger communal lounge area on the main floor, other floors offer a smaller private lounge area for residents to utilise outside their bedroom. They also have daily access to both an activities room (for structured programs) and a separate light-filled dining area.

Residents also have access to hairdresser, clinic room for GP visits and alfresco dining opportunities.
It is a short walk to the Gordon shopping centre and railway station. Horton House enjoys a relationship with Ravenswood School for Girls that is adjacent to the home. Residents enjoy concerts presented by the girls and many visit the home as part of their community service curriculum or Duke of Edinburgh scheme. Clergy visit the home regularly to meet the spiritual needs of residents.
CLASSIC ROOMS | Our classic single rooms (between 14 and 16 sqm in size), offer quality and amenity that provides for individual living in a community environment. These beautifully presented bedrooms provide privacy to residents with a high level of comfort. Each bedroom features colour coordinated furnishings. The bedroom furniture features a Hi-Lo or LoLo electric bed with lockable bedside cabinet, armchair, and built in wardrobe, colour coordinated curtains and pelmets, and bedspreads. Rooms have either carpet or vinyl flooring. Ensuite bathrooms are generously sized, feature marble effect tiled walls and floor; and thermostatically controlled all-in-one dual bidet/toilets. Nurse call points are also located in the shower, next to the WC. The rooms have access to telephone connection, TV Coax connection, free WiFi and heating.

Upon visiting the Horton House, I was greeted by welcoming and thoughtful staff led by Fiona Kelman. The facilities are of high standard and the staff is working around the clock for the well-being of the elderly.
Our mother, while at Horton House, was treated with dignity, extra care and respect. It was so reassuring knowing that she was made to feel special by all the staff she came in contact with. Fiona has a wonderful team working with her and is a compassionate and kind manager. And the food there is excellent.
My mother spent three weeks at Horton house and we were very happy with the care she received.The staff were very pleasant and coped well with the extra care my mother's condition required. Horton has very efficient management who kept us well informed about any issues that arose. Cleanliness and meals were excellent. Would definitely recommend
I am very happy with the facility. It met mums criteria for her care. The manager Fiona is kind and efficient and listens to mum about her everyday needs.
Our sister is a 53 yr old with Down syndrome, dwarfism and Alzheimer's disease - we are very happy with the care provided to her and that the staff and other residents are looking out for her due to her additional disability. Such a relief for our entire family. A small facility and just perfect for her.
Eleven blankets, eight pairs of socks, five large teddies, three small teddies, three patch-work bedspreads, two scarves, two beanies, and one pair of gloves. These were just some of the items donated by Twilight Aged Care to the Hornsby Ku Ring-Gai Women’s Shelter last month.
