Fairmont Aged Care Centre

Our family’s experience with Fairmont has been one of partnership in caring for my father. We have found the staff to be the home’s asset, this includes the manager all the way to the cleaning personnel, and they are all friendly and welcoming. We have ongoing communication with the manager and the staff to address all my father’s needs, and as the needs change, we have felt confident to speak with the staff and work towards solutions. My father has been at Fairmont for a number of years and we have the peace of mind that he is being cared for as an individual with his own culture. We think of Fairmont as the hidden gem of nursing homes, highly recommended if you want personalized care.

Dad was admitted into Fairmont early Nov 2021 and although initially apprehensive, he soon adapted to his new environment after being warmly welcomed by the Fairmont family . He enjoyed much banter with the loving and caring staff who went beyond the call of duty many times to ensure that his stay was as comfortable as possible. When family members visited we were always greeted with a warm and friendly smile from the nursing and cleaning staff and enjoyed many entertaining conversations with them. Any request we made to staff were promptly attended too. I would highly recommend Fairmont as a very suitable aged care facility where a family can feel content knowing that their loved one is being provided with the best of care .

When the time came where Mum, who had dementia, could no longer stay at home safely, the family looked at a number of options before settling on Fairmont Aged Care. Mum initially spent several weeks in respite at Fairmont where it became obvious that the management and most importantly, the staff cared about, and for, their residents in a professional, patient and friendly manner. Over the five years that Mum was living at Fairmont, they maintained effective communication with the family which allowed us to be confident in the care Mum was receiving. They provided her with the freedom to 'roam' within the grounds showing a true understanding of both her physical and emotional needs. Mum was provided with home cooked meals that were always tasty and nutritious and daily activities that saw her engage with staff and other residents. Mum recently died at the age of 100.5 years and the family believe that she was able to celebrate this personal milestone due greatly to the caring approach adopted by Fairmont staff. My grandmother arrived at Fairmont Aged Care very distressed having been transferred from Tuncurry in Midnorth Coast of NSW and fragile at the age of 96 years and 4 months. Once she realised that she was much closer to family and was visited and enjoyed their closer contact she became much happier for so many years. She continued to spend yearly birthdays at Fairmont (with attendance from many family members) and with the excitement and encouragement from many, many Fairmont staff. Many of these staff members were still with Coral at the time of her death at the age of 103 years and 1 month in July 2019. During her time she had a 100th birthday celebration including her cards and certificates from all the famous people throughout Australia and of course the World. Of course, as important as these people - no-one was more special on the day of her 100th than Nan herself! She attended a celebration with other centenarians with the NSW Governor at the age of 102 yrs in 2018. Needless to say all these celebrations woud not have been as successful or enjoyable without the support of Fairmont staff. At most times when things became more frustrating and difficult for Coral, she was assisted or family provided with updated information so that we could also assist in her care. Fairmont Aged Care at Bexley has provided the highest level of care to my family during the two and a half years that my father resided there.They focussed on his physical, social and psychological needs during this time and provided specialist workers when needed. They have an excellent recreational programme including bus trips and guest musicians that my dad loved. The physical environment continuously was improved over the time period and it was lovely that we could have a picnic with dad out under the mango tree. The staff are highly skilled professionals with long term employment at Fairmont, hence offering consistency. They focussed on developing a relationship with my dad and respected his wishes and those of the family. All of the staff offered us support and understanding during the period that dad was sick , prior to his death. We consider ourselves part of the Fairmont family and we thank them for such a high standard of care provided.
