Nursing Care Needs
Our thoroughly trained staff are a caring and committed team, able to provide a high standard of full-time care. RN coverage is 24hrs. The concept of care at Algester means personal needs are met in harmony with specialised medical attention. In addition to 24 hr nursing care, other services include: podiatry, physiotherapy, dietician, speech pathology, and aromatherapy. Hairdressing services are also offered at very reasonable rates. Residents are able to have their family doctor of own choice or a doctor can be chosen from the list of visiting GP’s. Referrals to specialists are organized when necessary.
Meals are Special
Home-style meals created by our cooks are a delight. Even the fussiest diner will satisfied with the daily menu which offers excellent variety.
Breakfast includes fruit juice, cereals, toast and a cooked or continental serve; morning teas are baked fresh everyday and include muffins, cakes and scones: lunch is the main meal of the day and varies between roasts, salads and hot dishes and dessert: the evening meal consists of soup. Light course and fresh fruit. Alternatives can be ordered at breakfast time. Special and texture modified diets are also provided with meals prepared fresh daily. Meals and snacks are served in rooms or in the dining room, depending on needs of the individual.
Environment
Algester offers fellowship and security. It has the choice of bright lounges, verandahs and courtyards which are warm, peaceful and tastefully decorated. All bedrooms are single rooms with ensuites except for three rooms which are specifically for couples to stay together at this important time of their lives. Algester Lodge has 144 beds with 45 secure unit beds. They are located in our secure special needs unit which has a covered veranda and outdoor area. This allows a great deal of freedom for wandering residents. The other 100 places are high and low care combined. With ‘Ageing in Places’ there is no need to move as care needs alter. Cherished personal items are welcome to make rooms more homelike.
Diversional Therapy
A Fully qualified DT sets up individual pro-grams for all residents and a huge range of activities is offered. BBQs and outings are favourites.

All bedrooms have built in wardrobes, lockable bedside cupboard, lounge chair, electric high low bed, private ensuite, fan and heater, option for air conditioning, facilities to connect private telephone, call bell access points in ensuite and bedroom. There are balconies, verandas or courtyards off some of the bedrooms.
