Aged Care Events: Better Practice Conferences

Better Practice Conferences are coming up in Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane and is being described as a ‘must attend’ for aged care managers and will focus on themes such as human rights, sexuality, loneliness and isolation.

Presenters include the Hon. Michael Kirby AC CMG (the Human Rights perspective), Pino Migliorino (CALD aged care and CALD staff), Arnold Zable (the healing power of story), Dr Tanya Davison (using non-pharmacological approaches) and Dr Malcolm Masso (It’s the little things that matter).

Do you know an amazing carer in aged care? The Aged Care Blog is looking to start a new regular blog series focusing on the great carers in the aged care industry.

Nominated carers will be featured on our blog, with a photo and a brief interview (about 10 minutes on the phone) about their job and why they choose to work in aged care.


Be Aware, Dementia Awareness Week 2013

Alzheimer’s Australia’s Dementia Awareness Week will run more than 20 events across the country next week, to promote awareness of dementia and how to live a brain-healthy lifestyle. Under the theme ‘Brain Health: Making the Connections’ a range of public events will be held from September 16th to the 22nd of September and coincide with World Alzheimer’s Day on September 21st.


Graduate Nursing Program Applications Open at The Whiddon Group

The Whiddon Group have opened applications for their Graduate Registered Nurse Program, ‘Transcend’.

The aged and community care provider’s program offers graduate nurses the opportunity to take place in a 13 week placement program in regional and rural New South Wales. Graduates are given the opportunity to work in community and residential care, including low and high care, palliative and dementia specific care.
