New South Wales and Western Australian Aged Care Provider Hall & Prior have swept up three awards at the Aged Care Accreditation Agency’s Better Practice Awards last week, winning in each category they were nominated in.

“We would have been delighted to win one award” said Hall & Prior’s CEO Graeme Prior, “but to win three awards for three nominations is an honour” he said.

Whiddon Group Recognised for Commitment to Rural Seniors

Aged care provider The Whiddon Group has been named a finalist in the 2013 HESTA Aged Care Awards in the Outstanding Organisation category.

The provider has been recognised for its initiatives for rural communities, clients and employees. The Whiddon Group operates in 26 locations including in remote areas Bourke, Wee Waa, Walgett, Narrabri and Condobolin.


Understanding Elderly Aboriginals Through Art: Aged Care Western Australia

An art collaboration to help health care professionals work with Aboriginal elders suffering from dementia has been released as a DVD documentary ‘Nungoo ngich Dunga nich’ (See me, Hear me). The collaboration included Aboriginal residents at Windsor Park Aged Care Home, their families, Noongah artist Ron Gidgup, filmmakers Arun Raj and Sean O’Keefe and staff from WA Dementia Training Study Centre (WADTSC) and Windsor Park Aged Care Home.
