Aged Care Vacancies
Depending on your location, trying to find a vacancy in a residential aged care home (formerly known as hostels or nursing homes) for yourself or a loved one can be a longer process than expected. At Aged Care Online we often receive calls from people who have family members who have reached a stage where aged care is needed. What they often don’t realise is, that being assessed for residential aged care and then finding a suitable home could take at least 2-3 months.
In Australia there is a minimum cost of aged care set by the Government, which can be covered with the rate of the pension (plus rent assistance). If you are financially disadvantaged then there is financial assistance available. You can find out what you are entitled to by contacting the Aged Care Information Line on 1800 500 853 or by calling Centrelink on 13 23 00.
