‘Catering Innovation of the Year’ Award for Aged Care Provider

New South Wales aged care provider ‘The Whiddon Group’ has been named the New South Wales winner and national finalist for ‘Catering Innovation of the Year,’ at the 2013 Oscar Hospitality Awards.

The provider’s win was based on four new dining programs which have been introduced over the last 12 months, including the Dining with Dignity and Fine Dining program.

Aged care provider Amana Living is seeking participants for their annual Wii World Cup among aged care and retirement living facilities across Australia.

The virtual bowling competition is open to all aged care centres and retirement living villages, which can source a Wii and Wii Sports Resort game and pull together a team of about eight participants and a coach.


HammondCare Graduate Program Applications Open

Aged care provider HammondCare has opened applications for their 2014 Graduate RN program, which offers a choice of two 12 month rotational graduate programs for newly qualified Registered Nurses. The graduate program offers one program in aged care business and one in the health and hospitals business. The aged care program will consist of four rotations, with the first three rotations being in health and hospital’s business, home service and in dementia-specific residential service.


2013 Bethanie Medallion Winners Announced

CEO of national peak organisation Leading Age Services Australia (LASA) Patrick Reid, has described the discussion on aged care between Kevin Rudd and Tony Abbott during last Sunday’s debate as “just passing comments.” “I’m a little perplexed that they didn’t come out more strongly on the issue” said Mr Reid, who is the CEO for the organisation who is committed to improving standards and efficiency in the aged care industry.

New Alliance for Older Australians Formed

A new national alliance to advocate for older Australians has been formed by some of country’s leading aged care providers.

The Masonic Care Alliance includes members from every state and territory, and will cover key concerns for older Australians including housing affordability, quality of services, access to care, protection of personal savings and choice of services. The new alliance is made up of member organisations including Masonic Care WA, The Whiddon Group, Royal Freemasons Vic., Star Aged Living, Masonic Care Queensland, Masonic Home Retirement Living and Masonic Care Northern Tasmania.


New General Manager for Southern Cross Care WA

Southern Cross Care (WA) Inc. (SCC), one of the largest and leading aged care providers in WA today announced that Chief Property Officer, Ms Rita Sheridan has been promoted to General Manager of Property.

Ms Sheridan has managed the Projects and Asset Management team since 2007. She held the responsibility for the SCC Property portfolio which included developments, sales and asset management.


New South Wales Provider Wins ‘Most Outstanding Specialised Business’ Award

New South Wales aged care provider Huntingdon Gardens has won the “most outstanding specialised business” category in the St George Business Awards for 2013.

The Bexley-based provider was judged over two stages and won against 80 nominated businesses. The first stage involved the community voting among the 80 nominees and the top five were then chosen to participate in stage two.
