More than a millennium of combined service to aged care is being celebrated this week at Anglican Care facilities in the Hunter, Central Coast and Mid-North Coast. To mark national “Thank You for Working in Aged Care Day” today (Tuesday 10th September) 359 employees will receive recognition for their service, from one year’s employment to 30 years with the aged care group.
It all started with baked custard. At a recent resident feedback meeting at Catholic Healthcare’s Emmaus Village in Kemps Creek, there was a discussion on the food and what everyone liked best. One of the residents, Margaret, said “The Chef can’t cook a baked custard. My baked custard is much better!”

A 1937 Austin Seven Ruby Tourer, owned by Kim and Kaye Reid and a 1935 Austin Seven Sports owned by Hugh Fryer were on show for the morning, much to the delight of many of the residents.
