Australian Multicultural Community Services (AMCS) provides help at home and other support services for seniors and their carers in the Melbourne region. With a speciality working with multicultural communities, AMCS has over 130 staff that speak a wide range of languages and understand a variety of cultures ready to provide you with the diverse services you need.
AMCS can provide you with a wide range of home care services, allowing you to remain living independently in the comfort of your own home.
Home care and support services provided by AMCS include:
Your individual needs are taken into consideration, with a care plan tailored specifically for you. Whether you need help with gardening, cleaning, shopping, respite care or nursing care, AMCS can cater to you and help you to maintain your independence.
Where possible, AMCS will match you with carers and support workers from the same cultural background.
AMCS can provide care and support for those with a government-funded Home Care Package, but also provides Fee-For-Service options for self-funded retirees.
In 2021, AMCS (Australian Multicultural Community Services) launched the Art Against Ageism competition, aiming to challenge age-related prejudice and empower the elderly through artistic expression. This year, the competition attracted over 250 local and international participants, effectively challenging stereotypes and honoring artists from diverse age groups and backgrounds.
In a world that is constantly evolving, there is one aspect of society that seems to lag behind – the way we perceive and treat our elders. To address this pressing issue, the annual 'Art Against Ageism' competition by AMCS has emerged as a beacon of hope, encouraging individuals to wield their artistic prowess to challenge negative stereotypes surrounding ageing.
The AMCS Art Challenge is back! The challenge was initially set up to depict positive ageing - through various art forms - graphic design, painting/drawing, photography and videography - in a society where ageism is one of the highest forms of discrimination.
On Monday 2 May, 2022 at Australian Multicultural Community Services (AMCS)-owned Millennium House in Footscray, The Honourable Matthew Guy, Leader of the Opposition in Victoria, committed $1.8m to assist with the venue’s renovations if elected.
Older adults especially from multicultural backgrounds are at risk of social isolation because of the loss of family or friends, chronic illness, language barriers and hearing loss. Australian Multicultural Community Services (AMCS) are running a competition, seeking ideas about reducing social isolation.
