Happy 65th Birthday Bethanie!

on Thursday, September 26, 2019

Bethanie, Western Australia’s most recognised not-for-profit aged care and retirement living provider is this week celebrating 65 years of business. 65 years-ago, Churches of Christ Homes, which is now Bethanie, opened its doors to its first residents.

What started out as a home for seniors at Joondanna has now grown to what we know as Bethanie today – with over 4,500 Western Australian seniors in their care across Aged Care Homes, Serviced Apartments, Retirement Villages, Home Care, Living Well Centres and Social Housing.

One resident who has been associated with Bethanie from the very beginning is Peg Eaton. Peg was a foundation board member for Churches of Christ Homes back in 1954, calling people into action through donation of money, time or product. This drive and passion continue to be a part of Peg’s life who lives at Bethanie Geneff, volunteering her time raising funds for Bethanie’s annual Operation Christmas Child shoe box appeal.

Chris How has worked at Bethanie for nearly 11 years, with five and half of those years as CEO. He says, “It has been a long and rewarding journey for Bethanie. From our humble beginnings of seven residents, to now caring for over 4,500 Western Australian seniors, we are both honoured and proud.”
