Braemar Presbyterian Care Breaks Ground on New Homes

on Monday, September 16, 2019

Braemar Presbyterian Care turned the first sod at a celebratory event on Thursday 12 September to mark construction work commencing on a block of new independent living units at Challenger Place in Melville.

The boutique, multi-million dollar development will provide homes for residents at the nearby Braemar Gardens complex, which will then be decommissioned and used for future redevelopment.

Braemar Challenger will offer two bedroom, two bathroom plus study homes, which are being built by The ABN Group. They will feature aging-in-place features as well as high ceilings, stone bench tops, stainless steel fixtures, premium floor coverings and fully landscaped garden areas.

Braemar Presbyterian Care Project and Asset Manager Amy Andrews said the new units will provide quality, modern homes for those residents currently living at Braemar Gardens, and will clear the way for the new aged care development planned for the decommissioned site.

"Braemar has been caring for elderly West Australians for over 65 years and we’re committed to providing quality aged care accommodation in our community which is why we have spent several years planning this new development,” she said.

“We’re also very excited to be collaborating with The ABN Group on this project, which has extensive experience in NDIS and retirement living developments. These new units demonstrate our commitment to the people in our care, and also to our community in terms of future demand for high quality aged care accommodation.”

Since 1952, Braemar Presbyterian Care has been offering care and friendship to the elderly in Western Australia. Braemar currently operates three residential care facilities, providing care and support to over 200 people. Braemar Care’s philosophy is one of Relationship Centred Care, which supports the relationships that exist and develop between staff, volunteers, residents and their families.
