Integrated Child Care, Aged Care and Primary Care Launches In Melbourne

on Tuesday, June 11, 2019

Being able to drop your kids to child care, visit your elderly relatives, workout at the gym and grab a coffee all at the same location sounds like most parents’ idea of heaven. This dream is becoming a reality with Australia’s first integrated, intergenerational care facility being developed in the Melbourne suburb of Mordialloc.

The CEO of TLC Healthcare, Lou Pascuzzi, has announced that their latest development, located opposite Woodlands Golf Course, will incorporate a child care centre alongside a residential aged care home, community medical centre, health club, swimming pool and café. Due for completion in 2022, TLC’s bold new development is the first time this range of intergenerational care services have been offered in one location by a single provider.

This latest endeavor expands on TLC’s healthcare integration strategy, which has seen them combine community medical centres with their aged care homes located across Melbourne and Geelong. Child care is a new endeavor for TLC, one that their CEO believes is a natural progression for the organisation.

“I am delighted to announce that TLC will be entering a new era of child care with the 2022 opening of our development in Mordialloc. Given the synergies between aged care, primary care and child care, it is a logical progression for our organisation to enter this field.

”The concept of integrating child care into aged care has been around for some time, but our development at Mordialloc will be the first time in Australia that aged care, primary care and child care have come together in one place by a single provider.

“TLC Early Learning’s first centre will be state-of-the-art and located right next door to a community medical centre; giving peace of mind to our parents. Parents will also be able to join our on-site TLC Health Club, making it easier to fit in a workout or swim knowing their child is being well taken care of.

“Our current program of child care and school visits to our aged care homes benefits everyone by bringing people of all ages together. This new project will make that valuable program an everyday part of what we do.

“We have been granted a council town planning permit for the project at Mordialloc and local government were very supportive of our innovative plans. They appreciate that an integrated development of this kind is the way of the future, and a huge benefit to their local community,” said Pascuzzi.

In addition to the Mordialloc location, TLC is also developing another new site in the Melbourne suburb of Ivanhoe East, engaging a similar integrated design. The development is conveniently located on Lower Heidelberg Road with sweeping views of the CBD skyline and is scheduled for delivery in 2023.
