Bethanie and AMA JOIN Forces to Launch Australian First Programme in Leadership

on Tuesday, June 11, 2019

Bethanie, one of Western Australia’s most recognised not-for-profit aged care and retirement living providers and the Australian Medical Association (AMA) have established an exciting new initiative, the first of its kind in Australia.

The ‘Bethanie Leadership Excellence’ programme was launched at the State Library of Western Australia in May and uses an innovated blended learning approach that combines seminars, online learning and workplace projects.

The 18-month programme has been customised to meet the unique needs of leaders in the aged care sector and graduates will be awarded with a nationally recognised Diploma of Health Administration.

The collaboration was initiated to recognise the important role that operational leaders play in creating fantastic experiences for an ageing population.  Strong leadership capability is needed to develop competencies that enable leaders to support choice, encourage independence and drive innovation in the sector.

Bethanie CEO Chris How comments, “Through investing in the development of contextualised, role-focused programs, we have the opportunity to articulate, explore and develop what it means to be an excellent leader at Bethanie.

“This programme provides a strong and consistent foundation for all our leaders and delivers an innovative approach to capability development in partnership with the AMA”.

Chris adds, “We are proud to offer the Bethanie Leadership Excellence programme to twenty operational and emerging leaders within our organisation.”

The Bethanie Leadership Excellence programme commences in July 2019.
