McKenzie Aged Care Team to Take Part in Memory Walk

on Wednesday, May 22, 2019

A team from McKenzie Aged Care’s Glasshouse Views aged care home at Beerwah are participating in the Sunshine Coast Memory walk in June. The team want to help raise awareness for individuals living with dementia, their carers, their families and their friends.

Dementia is non-discriminating for both the young and the old, and it can have a massive impact on all involved. The members of the team from Glasshouse Views all work within the aged care industry and see the effects dementia has on residents and their families every day. Some of the team have also had family members affected by dementia.

The team hopes the funds raised in this event will help to improve the quality of life for people with dementia, by helping to support these individuals and fund future research in this area.

The Glasshouse Views team have reached out to family, friends and co-workers to sponsor them. They have also shared information about the team and individual fundraising pages on Facebook in order to reach out to the wider community.

Team leader, Physiotherapy Aid, Ann Cook said, “We are all very proud to work in this industry and glad to be able to make a difference for people living with Dementia. We look forward to completing our 9km walk in support of all those impacted by Dementia.”
