Bolton Clarke Centaur Memorial Celebrates Christmas in Style

Bolton Clarke’s Centaur Memorial residential aged care community in Caloundra held their annual Christmas concert this week which featured live music, Rock’n’Roll dancers and fantastic performances from local dance groups including ballet, jazz, tap and even aerial acrobatics.   

Local performance groups Kartwheel Kids Gymnastics and Circus plus the Sunshine Dance Academy performed to the delight of residents, families and team members who were amazed at the talent of such young performers who were twirling, tumbling, tapping and twisting in fabulous costumes spreading Christmas cheer.

Diversional Therapist Pam Greig said the concert is one of the most anticipated events in the site’s busy social calendar and is a group effort of all team members, volunteers and family who contribute on the day.

“Many of our residents will go out on Christmas day so this is our opportunity to come together and celebrate. It’s a very special day for the home and it’s a home we are very proud of,” she said.

“We wouldn’t be able to do this without the help of our strong cohort of volunteers who contribute thousands of hours to the site each year. They help with the decorations, serving food and getting our residents up and dancing and are extremely valuable to us.

"We do this every year and it's something everyone looks forward to, it's so lovely to bring people together at this time of year." 

The concert also featured a full Christmas lunch with all the trimmings and a special visit from Santa Claus who handed out gifts for all the residents.

Centaur Memorial will keep the Christmas cheer alive for the rest of December with plenty more activities to come including a bus tour of the Montville Christmas Wonderland in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Christmas shopping so residents can get all their goodies and smaller concerts and choir performances.
