Thanking Braemar’s Aged Care Heroes

on Wednesday, September 12, 2018

Today, Braemar Presbyterian Care will be taking part in the first annual recognition day for individuals who work in aged care.

Wednesday 12 September is Thank You for Working in Aged Care Day, an initiative designed to celebrate those who work in aged care services, from frontline care staff through to hospitality, lifestyle and admin.

And team members at Braemar will not only have their work recognised, it will also be celebrated with the help of barista coffee, ice cream and a substantial celebratory cake at each of the organisation’s facilities in Melville, East Fremantle and Willagee.

Braemar’s Chief Executive, Wayne Belcher OAM, says the day is an important initiative in acknowledging the vital work undertaken by people who work in the aged care sector.

“Aged care is extremely important, skilled and demanding and Braemar wouldn’t be the high quality organisation it is without the amazing people who choose to work with us, and so we’re extremely pleased to be able to congratulate them on Thank You for Working in Aged Care Day.

“Whether our team members work as a carer, cleaner, kitchen hand, activities officer, nurse, team leader or in our laundry, they are all highly regarded and appreciated, and are incredibly important in contributing to the lives of our elderly.

“The day is also a great way of highlighting to the wider community that the people in aged care are often the unsung heroes in our community and deserve to be recognised for their tireless dedication to our seniors.”

With over 200 people in its care, Braemar operate three residential aged care facilities in the City of Melville and East Fremantle area, specialising in dementia care and palliative support.
