Catholic Healthcare Wins 2018 Quality Pastoral & Spiritual Care Practice Award

Catholic Healthcare was the proud winner of the Meaningful Ageing Australia 2018 Quality Pastoral & Spiritual Care Practice Award last night at a ceremony held at Melbourne Town Hall.

The Meaningful Ageing Australia Quality Practice Awards recognise innovation and excellence in the spiritual care of older people.

Catholic Healthcare was recognised for its Community Pastoral Care Program.

Julia Abrahams, Director of Mission and Chief Counsel, accepted the award on behalf of Catholic Healthcare.

“The Community Pastoral Care Program offers spiritual and emotional support resources for clients who live at home. Clients are often referred to the program because of a crisis that occurs within their lives. Our Mission is to promote life in all its fullness, and the Pastoral Care team works to connect with, engage and enhance the spirituality of the client, their family and carers,” said Abrahams.

“There are approximately 180 clients who benefit from the Pastoral Care Program each year”, added Abrahams.

“We are extremely proud of Julia and the Mission team”, said David Maher, Catholic Healthcare’s Managing Director. “Pastoral care is an essential element of our person-centered holistic approach to care,” he added.
