Braemar Takes the Lead in Protecting Its Residents This Winter

Braemar Presbyterian Care is taking the lead in the fight against flu this year by offering complementary flu vaccines for staff at all of its Perth-based aged care facilities.

This week, free vaccinations will be open to all staff, in addition to resident’s family members and also all Braemar volunteers.

Braemar’s General Manager – Workforce Renee Reid said the complementary flu vaccine could significantly reduce the risk of catching influenza this winter and help to protect Braemar’s residents, staff members and family members.

“We are focused on our staff vaccination rates meeting best practice levels, as our health and care professionals have the most contact with our residents,” Ms Reid said.

“We’re also calling on everyone who enters one of our aged care facilities, including family members and visitors, to be vaccinated for the protection of all residents, including their loved ones.”

As a ‘sweet’ incentive, every person vaccinated will be rewarded with a home-made crepe, cooked especially by Braemar’s CEO - who is reportedly a very good cook, while free barista coffee and ice creams are also available to everyone who attends.

Braemar has made the complementary vaccinations available to all staff, volunteers and family members of residents.

Since 1952, Braemar Presbyterian Care has been offering care and friendship to the elderly in Western Australia. Braemar operate residential aged care facilities, providing care and support to over 200 people. Braemar’s care philosophy is one of Relationship Centred Care, which supports the relationships that exist and develop between staff, volunteers, residents and their families.
