ACH Group Appoints New Chair

on Monday, May 21, 2018

Leading not-for-profit aged care organisation for South Australia and Victoria, ACH Group, has announced the appointment of Mary Patetsos as Board Chair.

Ms Patetsos has served as Deputy Chair for the past three years and a Board Director since 2008 and is looking forward to building on ACH Group’s 65-year history as a leader and innovator in aged and disability care.

Her appointment follows the retirement of outgoing Chairman Geoff Holdich, who has been a member of the Board for 10 years including eight years as Treasurer.

Ms Patetsos believes that life is an opportunity not to be missed, regardless of age, gender, culture and capacity.

This philosophy is reflected in Ms Patetsos’ membership on a number of boards including Chair of Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA), Chair of SA Housing Trust, Chair of the SA Local Government Grants Commission, Council Member University of South Australia, Deputy Chair Health Performance Council and National Aged Care Alliance.

She is also a Chair and non-Executive Director of Power Community Limited and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).

“It is my firm belief that older South Australians from all backgrounds should have the opportunity to live at home for as long as possible, receiving support if and when required that takes into account their individual needs and respects cultural traditions. For 65 years ACH Group has led the way in creating good lives for all South Australians and I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead.”

ACH Group has long supported women in leadership positions. Half (four) of its eight-member Board are women, while women account for 50 per cent of the organisation’s leadership positions.

According to a report published by South Australia’s Office for Women (2015), women make up only 20 per cent of directors on the ASX200 companies and 30 of these boards do not have women members.
