Brand New Wallsend Manor Aged Care Provides New Options for Local Seniors

on Monday, April 23, 2018

The superb Wallsend Manor Aged Care officially opened it's doors on Wednesday 4th April, providing the local community with a brand new aged care home offering local seniors state of the art care and accommodation.

Located at 8 McNaughton Ave, Wallsend, Wallsend Manor Aged Care has taken approximately 18 months to complete. It can accommodate up to 91 residents once fully operational.

The stylish two-storey home is elegant and homely and has been carefully designed to bring the outdoors in and capture the beautiful natural light.  There are communal sitting areas with bi-fold doors that open out to a landscaped courtyard or terraces. The high ceilings and large glass windows help create a sense of openness, space and flow through the home.  Some residential rooms have a balcony or patio to enjoy the fresh air and sun.

Wallsend Manor Aged Care includes a coffee hub, an aromatherapy room, hairdressing salon, private dining room, computers room / library, outdoor courtyard and terraces, sitting areas, and an activities area for art, crafts and lifestyle.

Residents have started moving in and are making themselves comfortable and at home.

New residents Hilda and Neville Towers said, “We love it here and are very happy with the care Debbie and her team are providing”.  They said that their aged care options were made easy to understand.

“There are excellent nurses who are very friendly, helpful and love a joke. We are looked after very well and all the staff have a wonderful attitude.  The care we have been given from day one has been excellent and we are happy to be together”, they said.

As well as providing permanent residential accommodation, Wallsend Manor Aged Care has an area within the home for residents needing security, extra care and support. This is suitable for seniors with early stage dementia.

There is also respite care and services (short term accommodation that provides an organised, temporary break both for carers and the person they care for).

Facility Manager, Debbie McPhee said, “There is a strong focus on caring for residents to ensure they feel at home and safe, part of a community and receive the support they need for quality of living. We care for them like we would our own family members with the respect and dignity they deserve. We have created a wonderful atmosphere with attractive artwork, plenty of open spaces, areas to socialise and enjoy the companionship of other or just some quality quiet time.”

Residents can choose from a spacious single room or there are double rooms available (ideal for couples so they can stay together).  There is an exciting leisure and lifestyle program that residents can participate in to keep active, engaged and importantly, have fun.  Fresh and nutritious meals are cooked in-house by our catering team ensuring residents receive a varied and balanced diet for wellbeing.

Wallsend Manor Aged Care is an independent and Australian owned service provider.

The home is having an Open Day on Saturday, 28th April from 10am to 2pm.
