Council Chair Continues to Ensure Safe, Quality Aged Care

on Friday, February 9, 2018

The Minister for Aged Care, Ken Wyatt AM, has today announced the re-appointment of Andrea Coote as Chair of the Aged Care Quality Advisory Council, for a three-year term.

“The Aged Care Quality Advisory Council provides valuable advice about the operations and functions of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency including promoting continuous improvement and compliance with quality standards,” Minister Wyatt said.

“I welcome the re-appointment of Ms Coote at an important time in the Turnbull Government’s aged care reform agenda.

“The health, safety and wellbeing of older people who use aged care services is paramount.

“Continuity is also important during what is a critical period in the work of the advisory council, with the work surrounding the Review of National Aged Care Quality Regulatory Processes.”

Ms Coote was appointed inaugural chair of the advisory council in 2014, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the role.

“Community expectations of the aged care sector are rightly high,” Minister Wyatt said.

“The advisory council plays a significant part in ensuring our aged care services deliver the safe, quality care Australians expect and deserve.”
