Australia Day Message from Vasey RSL Care’s CEO

Vasey RSL Care's CEO, Janna Volos, has shared a touching Australia Day message.

Tomorrow is Australia Day, and while I acknowledge the history of our indigenous people on this day, I would like to focus on those things that unite all Australians.

I’m thinking of those characteristics that Australia is known for around the world – our confidence, our enjoyment of life and positive nature, our diversity, our determination, our openness, our larrikin spirit!

These are qualities that have grown to represent this country, a country with only 23 million people that competes on the world stage in sports, entertainment, politics, scientific advancement and much more. This is a country where traditional values are held dear and where anyone from any walk of life should be able to have a ‘fair go’.

As we begin 2018 and the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, we anticipate memorials throughout this year: we will have the opportunity to remember those who fought, those who were wounded, physically and mentally, and those who paid the ultimate price.

We will also think about all those who have served to protect our nation in more recent wars and peacekeeping forces, particularly those within the Vasey RSL Care community.

I look forward to working with all our staff to continue to provide the best possible care and quality of life for our community: as we serve those who served, let us remember that these are the people who helped create the wonderful place we call home today.
