Bethanie to Deliver a New Category in Aged Care for Western Australia

on Tuesday, December 5, 2017

Bethanie, one of Western Australia’s leading not-for-profit aged   care and retirement living providers, is preparing to open 48 serviced apartments in the premium inner suburb of Menora, offering West Australians a completely new category in aged care living.

WA’s first serviced apartments for seniors will provide the perfect balance of support and independence, sitting in between what is offered in an Independent Living Unit and an Aged Care Facility.

Targeted at those aged 80 years and over, the innovative apartments offer a level of care and affordable luxury unlike anything else in WA. From freshly cooked daily meals, weekly cleaning and laundry, to the built-in health
technology, and maintaining an active social life, residents can live independently whilst enjoying a tailored level of support as needed.

Bethanie CEO Chris How comments, “We saw a gap in the market for an option which just wasn’t available here in WA – we are offering retirement living in a completely serviced apartment.

“We know how important it is within the ageing process to retain independence – what these serviced apartments offer is the option to remove some of the necessary everyday tasks that can become more difficult and perhaps keep us from staying at home for longer.”

Due for completion in December 2017, the apartments will complement the existing villas and apartments that form part of the stylish village called Bethanie on the Park. They have been finished to an exceptional standard, offering modern living in a picturesque location on the doorstep of Yokine Reserve, and also featuring views of Perth city.

Chris adds, “In 1992 Bethanie built a leading facility in Bethanie on the Park, and ironically now we are once again leading the way with these serviced apartments.”

Bethanie Hospitality Consultant Tony Rutherford will offer a chalkboard menu with a commitment to delivering fresh, seasonal produce and a menu that will change weekly. Residents can delight in the social aspect of dining in ‘The Garden Dining Room’, sharing meals with their friends, family and fellow neighbours, or they can have their meal delivered to their door and enjoyed in the privacy of their own apartment.

Ample research shows technology can assist with caring for the elderly by enabling 24-hour care and peace of mind. With residents’ health and wellness a top priority, Bethanie has applied new technologies throughout the first-of-its-kind property – for example, each apartment will be equipped with devices that recognise if the resident has a fall, triggering an alarm for the Bethanie Village Manager to respond to the apartment within minutes. It means residents will be supported by the latest technology to ensure the highest level of care with minimal interference.

Chris says, “We are offering our ageing population the chance to remain independent, with peace of mind that help is never far away. With sociability and independence not only provided but encouraged, this new service is a great option for General Practitioners to guide their clients – especially given the health support options we will have on hand 24-7.”

Every apartment features a balcony large enough to house an outdoor setting and BBQ. Plus, residents will have access to the Bethanie on the Park Clubhouse with additional features including a ballroom, dining area, bar and entertainment zone, library, hair salon, on-site wellness centre (podiatry, physio, Allied Health services) and a fully equipped gymnasium.

With one and two bedroom apartments available, these stunning apartments offer affordable luxury with prices starting from $385,000 and for less than $45 per day, meals, cleaning, laundry and Bethanie’s unique exclusive health and wellness technology app are all included. Registrations of interest are open now by contacting Bethanie on 13 11 51.
