Reframing Dementia with Sue Pieters-Hawke

on Wednesday, November 15, 2017

Located in Kogarah, Greengate's St Patrick’s Green is a new retirement and aged care home designed to specialise in memory support for those living with dementia.

Our experienced team is hosting an important discussion and education event for the community with the support of leading advocate, Sue Pieters-Hawke.

The Village General Manager, Andrea Riveria stated that, “We are committed in our focus to support our residents, their families and other members of the community who are experiencing the effects of living with dementia. The event with Sue is one of the first education sessions we expect to host at our Village.”

Andrea added that, “After the event the attendees will get the first opportunity to visit our aged care home. Come and see first-hand the specialist design and quality of St Patrick’s Green before we welcome our first aged care residents in February 2018.”

Our aged care home features leading design including The Cognitive House which is styled just like many homes in the 1950’s and facilitates a variety of therapeutic activities such as cooking and gardening, which provide an opportunity for residents to achieve a sense of the familiar.

Together with Sue, the Greengate team will discuss what reframing dementia means to the community and the new residents of St Patrick’s Green. The event will provide a forum for you to discuss and question what dementia means to you and your family.

Sue Pieters-Hawke provides a view from the family perspective. After caring for her mother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Sue offers understanding and thoughtful solutions to many issues relating to dementia.
Along with other experts in the field, Sue will explore many of the current issues surrounding dementia in our society. This intimate event will allow you to ask questions and gain valuable insight into caring for those living with dementia.
