Vincent Makes it a Century

Resident of Bolton Clarke Cazna Gardens residential community in Sunnybank Hills, Vince Gerahty has celebrated his 100th Birthday surrounded by family and friends.

Vince is the self-appointed trouble maker of Cazna Gardens and likes nothing more than putting staff and visitors into fits of giggles.

“I always love to make people laugh, I really enjoy having a chat with the staff and we are forever joking around,” he said.  

“On turning 100, I don’t feel any different than I did in my nineties, I think age is just a number. The secret to living a long life is to keep active, drink in moderation and stay away from bad influences.”

Vince was born in Brisbane however moved around Australia for most of his life enlisting in the armed forces and serving in World War II before returning home to work for the post office as a Post Master.

He then came back to Brisbane before settling into the Cazna Gardens residential aged care community in Sunnybank Hills where he has lived for the past seven years.

He loves living in the area and has family close by, Vince has three daughters and two sons.

“I’m very lucky to have a very close knit family, the ones who live nearby come and see me all the time which is very special,” he said.

Vince also led a very active lifestyle playing plenty of cricket and tennis, nowadays he loves his crosswords and gets the paper everyday so he can play.
