Oxley Home Care Marking National Carers’ Week

on Monday, October 16, 2017

National Carers Week takes place this week – October 15 – 21, 2017 – and is all about recognising and celebrating the amazing positive difference that Australia’s 2.7 million unpaid carers make to our families, communities and the national economy.

These carers provide 36 million hours of care and support every week to a family member or friend who has a disability, mental illness, drug and/or alcohol dependency, chronic condition, terminal illness or who is frail. The replacement value of that unpaid care is $1.1 billion per week, according to Carers NSW Australia.

National Carers Week acknowledges and celebrates the invaluable contribution made by local carers and seeks to ensure that carers take time out, relax, connect, pick up new information and most of all – have fun!

Events for Carers in Sydney:

Big Day Out

Tuesday October 17

Anyone caring for a family member or friend is invited to join Carers NSW at Carers Day Out.

It features pampering booths, great entertainment, delicious food, information and much more!

  • 9:15am pick up from the Cromer Community Centre (all day parking)
  • 9:30am pick up from the main south-bound bus stop on Pittwater Road in Dee Why
  • Return home by 2.30 – 3pm

Many carers find it difficult to ask for help, but just a few hours each week can make a profound difference to their quality of life and the ability to cope with the stresses of being a full-time Carer.

Oxley Home Care are passionate about helping people live independently in their own homes and as such have developed a range of services which can be modified to suit the individual needs of the person being cared for.
