Baptistcare Resident Turns 105

on Thursday, August 31, 2017

Bea May, a resident at Baptistcare Yallambee Residential Care in Mundaring, recently celebrated her 105th birthday.

Bea celebrated this milestone birthday at a special tea party which was attended by members of her family, and the residents, staff and volunteers at Baptistcare Yallambee.

The occasion was marked with a delicious strawberry sponge birthday cake, balloons and decorations, and a table full of presents from the staff and volunteers. Bea’s favourite music entertainer Glen Levi made the day special by singing to Bea and her guests.

Bea enjoyed having family visiting during the day, including her daughter and granddaughter. Bea said she really appreciated the celebrations.

“It was a wonderful day and I thoroughly enjoyed it,” she said.

Bea was born in Mullewa in 1912, where she grew up in a big family as the youngest of ten children. She has seven children and many grandchildren. She previously lived in Beverley before moving to Mundaring.

Bea is very sociable and especially enjoys one-on-one chats with staff, volunteers, other residents and visitors. She enjoys many activities including craft, gardening, attending music performances by the volunteers, and playing bingo twice a week. Her specialty is quizzes, which she is very good at!
