Revealed: Latest Vision for Kununurra Aged Care

on Wednesday, June 7, 2017

This is the future of aged care services in the East Kimberley, a modern multipurpose residence for all older people seeking residential and community care services in Kununurra. Releasing the vision of the new Juniper residence, Chief Executive Vaughan Harding said additional accommodation and care services would be of great comfort to the region’s older people and their families.

“The purpose-built aged care residence now under construction brings much needed accommodation and enables the expansion of home and community care services in the region,” he said.

“Juniper is responding to demand for care services in the East Kimberley and this initiative will go a long way to meet unmet need.”

The $11.5 million project, co-funded by Juniper and the Commonwealth, combines a 30 bed residential aged care home and community care services in an attractive, modern building specially designed for local conditions and climate.

Its amenities include accommodation; activities and alfresco areas; a medical consulting room and nurses’ treatment room for residents and community clients; and there are plans for five onsite staff accommodation units.

Mr Harding said a new aged care hub would mean greater convenience and surety for older clients and their families, many of whom would normally have to travel to Perth or Darwin to access services.

The project is part of the organisation’s strategic intent to double its capacity to deliver care and services in WA.

Construction commenced in April this year and the facility is planned for completion in early 2018.
