Generous Donation Benefits Mercy Place Abbotsford

Staff and residents at Mercy Place Abbotsford in Melbourne have welcomed the former committee of the Loganville Hostel into their home to see first-hand how they’re using their pre-loved furniture. 

The Loganville Hostel was a 24-bed aged care home located in East Bentleigh, Melbourne which cared for those who couldn’t afford to go anywhere else. Before the home closed 12 months ago, the Loganville Committee reached out to a number of Catholic aged care providers to see if any of their furniture or belongings could be re-purposed.

Jeff Major, former President of the Loganville Committee, said the three aged care homes they approached all had similar values to the hostel.

“We were determined to find a new home for as much of the furniture as possible,” Mr Major explained.

“One year on - it’s fantastic for us to be all together to see how our chairs and tables are being used at Mercy Place Abbotsford.”

The Loganville Committee also gifted the home a generous monetary donation which will be used to refurbish the gardens and go towards the future redevelopment of the building.

Mercy Place Abbotsford Service Manager Karin Woods said staff and residents were extremely grateful for the support.

“We look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship with members of the former Loganville Committee,” Ms Woods said.

“I have no doubt that their generosity will have a lasting impact on our home and the well-being of everyone who resides here.”
