Animals Provide Companionship to Residents at Regis Aged Care

on Friday, March 3, 2017

Regis' aged care homes have always welcomed friendly animals to help bring joy and reduce anxiety and stress in resident’s daily lives.

Volunteers generously give their time to bring animals into Regis' aged care homes throughout Australia.

The Regis Pet Therapy program sees a variety of animals visiting residences including dogs, cats, farm animals and, occasionally for special events, native Australian animals.

Some lovable and esteemed visitors are deserving of a little extra recognition as they bring immense happiness to residents each time they call. Here’s a few great snaps of these beautiful pet companions.

Regis Embleton, WA

Regis Embleton gets a little extra cheer during an afternoon visit from Albert the pony. During this visit Albert was joined by some piglets, ducks, rabbits and many other farmyard animals who visit twice a year when the ‘Farmyard Pets’ take over the green. On these occasions family and friends often drop by for a special visit shared with residents.

Regis Birkdale, QLD

Regis Birkdale residents were delighted to get a visit from Indiana, a Bearded Dragon. He came along to the Men's Group as well as enjoyed high tea with the ladies. The residents’ loved this scaly creature and invited him to drop by again with his owner.

Regis North Fremantle, WA

An inquisitive Scottish Terrier named Isla stops by at North Fremantle once a week. On her most recent visit the projector proved to be too much for the playful terrier and she couldn’t help but try to catch the fish during the a round of Fish Pond played on the INTERACTIV wall. Amused residents and staff relished the dog’s antics as well as found a new participant to attend their technology activites.
