Wesley Mission Parkview Residents Celebrate Valentine’s Day Through Song

on Tuesday, February 14, 2017

Love was in the air at Wesley Mission Queensland - Wheller Gardens Parkview as residents, family and staff gathered for a Valentine’s Day Concert.

The performance was led by Parkview’s very own choir, consisting of residents who meet to sing every week.

The choir performed popular love songs from the 1920s to 1980s, including ‘Hey, Good Lookin,’ ‘Love Me Tender,’ ‘Love is a Beautiful Song’ and 'Wind Beneath My Wings'. The crowd delighted in three solo performances by Don England, David Hicks and Yvonne Hooper.

Fran Larkey, Director of Nursing at Parkview, said the concert was a wonderful way for residents and their loved ones to gather together in celebration.

“Today the room wasn’t just filled with music, it was also filled with joy and love,” she said.

“The Parkview Choir is a big success here within the community, and this concert was the perfect example of the way music connects us all with one another. A highlight was seeing everyone singing along, whether they were part of the choir or watching in the crowd.

“It’s inspiring and heartwarming to see the residents sharing special moments together, and of course, having fun! At Parkview, each day we strive to provide innovative and engaging social gatherings and events for residents to take part in that make a real difference to their overall wellbeing and happiness.”
