Rocking Rood Time at RSL Care Fernhill

RSL Care Fernhill has thrown a rocking-good Rock’n’Roll themed party complete with music, fashion, vintage cars and fun.

The residents of the aged care site were transported back to the 1950’s with singer Di Marie who sang classic songs including Rocking Robin, My Boy Lollypop and plenty of old favourites from Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and more.  

Staff encouraged residents to get up and have a dance while delicious cupcakes and treats were served and outside the community hall were vintage 1950’s cars for the residents to admire.

Diversional Therapist Alma Massie loves holding themed parties for the residents especially ones that transport them back to the era when they were young. 

“The residents really love it and they are can remember all the songs from when they were young, they love to sing and dance along,” she said.

“The staff have gone to an amazing effort, dressing up in classic Rock’n’Roll costumes with full skirts, red lips and 1950’s glasses.

 “The residents really appreciate the effort we have gone to, making this day special for them and doing something a little bit different.”
