Mercy Health Residents Enjoy a Spin on the Open Road

on Thursday, November 24, 2016

Residents at Mercy Place Edgewater will experience the wind in their hair and the thrill of the open road when they’re taken for a spin on a Harley Davidson next week.

Half a dozen seniors have volunteered for a ride after Mercy Health’s maintenance manager and self-confessed Harley-Davidson fan Pete Grant decided he wanted to give residents a pre-Christmas gift they’ll remember.

Mercy Place Edgewater Service Manager, Helen Fullarton, says residents have been excited about going for their Harley Davidson spin for a couple of weeks.

“It’s been wonderful to see so many of our seniors looking forward to this so much, they’ve been getting really excited as many of them haven’t been for a trip on a motorbike for more than 50 years,” Ms Fullarton says.

“Even some of our residents with limited mobility have decided they want to participate and so we’ll have extra staff around to help them on and off the bike.

“Mercy Health is focused on ensuring our residents continue to have joy, excitement and happiness in their lives, which is why we’ve arranged this experience for them, and we’re extremely thankful to Pete for helping to make it happen.”
