Home Care Packages are home care & home help services that are funded (either in part or in full) by the Australian Government.
Level 2 Home Care Packages (sometimes seen abbreviated as HCP Level 2 or HCP2) are aimed at supporting people who have low level care needs. If you or a loved one has low level care needs, you may be eligible to receive assistance with:
Home Care Package Costs
Recipients of a Level 2 Home Care Package may also be eligible to enter residential aged care, but would prefer to remain living at home.
For each Home Care Package, the Australian Government will pay a different amount. This amount will be paid directly to your chosen home care provider.
The subsidy that will be paid for your Home Care Package will depend on whether you have to pay an income-tested care fee. This will be determined during an income assessment.
At July 1 2018, the Government subsidy for level 1 Home Care Packages is $14,500. This contribution increases every year.
To access a Level 2 Home Care Package, you or your loved one will need to undergo an assessment by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) - also known as an Aged Care Assessment Service (ACAS) in Victoria. This assessment will determine whether you are eligible to receive a Home Care Package and if a Level 2 package would be suitable for your in-home care needs.
All Level 2 Home Care Packages are now offered under the new Consumer Directed Care (CDC) Model which means you have more control over how your Home Care Package funds are spent.
Home Care Packages can only be delivered by approved services providers on behalf of the Government.
