New Resthaven for Aberfoyle Park

Resthaven, one of South Australia's leading aged care providers, has announced that they will begin construction on a new aged care development early next year, after plans were recently approved by the local council.

"I am pleased to announce that planning approval has been granted from the City of Onkaparinga for Resthaven to build a new residential aged care home at Aberfoyle Park," says Richard Hearn, Resthaven CEO.

The land, formerly owned by the council, was purchased by Resthaven in 2007, with the aim of building a new Resthaven. However, it was not until December 2014 that Resthaven was allocated 100 new aged care places in the Government Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR), allowing planning to move forward. The council leased back the land over that time.

The site is in an ideal location; adjacent to shops, a school and a retirement village.

Building plans, designed by Brown Falconer Architects, were submitted to the City of Onkaparinga late last year, and were recently approved.

"At capacity, a site of this size not only provides aged care accommodation and support for 100 older people, but also offers around 100 long term jobs," Richard explained.

The local community will benefit from additional services for older people, volunteering and employment opportunities, and involvement with community groups.

Building is expected to begin early next year.
