Eaton Resident Celebrates 100th Birthday at Bethanie Fields

on Tuesday, October 4, 2016

Bethanie, one of Western Australia’s most well-known not-for-profit aged care and retirement living providers, have recently celebrated the 100th birthday of Bethanie Fields resident, Patricia (Pat) Martinson.

With the help of Bethanie Fields Lifestyle Coordinator, Christie Murray and Pat’s son Graham, Pat was collected from the Eaton site in a classic 1929 Plymouth by a member of the  Bunbury Vintage Car Club of WA for a special ‘centenary tour’ that took her on a surprise trip into Bunbury.

Her journey included a walk down memory lane where Pat and Graham stopped off at Bunbury Senior High School, the school Pat spent many years as a Biology teacher. School Principal, Craige Pettit gathered with students out the front of the school to welcome Pat’s arrival.

Bethanie Fields Lifestyle Coordinator, Christie Murray said as Pat returned to the car she proudly announced, “I am 100 people!”, which was followed by a loud cheer from students and accompanying Bethanie staff.

“From putting on her purple birthday girl sash to watching the vintage car arrive, Pat was smiling from ear to ear the entire day. The surprise trip was a great success and one that we will treasure at Bethanie Fields for many years to come,” said Christie.
