Quality Starts and Ends with the Person

Leading Victorian not-for-profit aged care provider Benetas held a special event at ACMI Federation Square, celebrating the beginning of their journey with the Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL). 

Benetas is the first Australian aged care specific organisation to work with CQL, which will define, measure and improve Benetas customers’ quality of life and customer experience.

CQL is dedicated to the definition, measurement, and improvement of personal and community quality of life for people with disabilities, people with mental illness and substance abuse disorders and older adults.

Benetas CEO Sandra Hills said the partnership acknowledged there is more to quality of life than just clinical outcomes and that it was crucial to put the person in control of what they would like to achieve.

“We were aware of the compliance requirements, but we wanted more for our customers; we felt strongly that compliance was the minimum standard and we wanted to strive for something higher,” said Ms Hills.

“At this time of pondering, our thinking was also informed by the development of our three Quality Principles, our Quality Management Framework and our work around the customer experience and culture.” 

“It is a very exciting time for aged care and for the people working to improve and develop services for the people we support now, and into the future.”

“We are very proud to be starting this exciting journey with CQL.”

CQL predominantly supports people with disabilities, however in recent times have moved into the seniors and mental health space.

Representatives from Leading Age Services Australia, COTA Victoria and other industry stakeholders had the opportunity to meet with staff from Benetas and CQL at the event.
