Dr Jane Wilson Joins Opal Aged Care Board

Opal Aged Care have announced the appointment of Dr Jane Wilson to its Board, in a move that will further support Opal’s objective of becoming a leader in aged care. 

Dr Wilson is a Guardian of the Future Fund Board, Australia's Sovereign Wealth Fund and an independent director of Sonic Healthcare Ltd, one of the world's largest medical diagnostics companies.

Speaking about the appointment, Opal Chairman, Professor Peter Shergold AC said Dr Wilson will bring valuable insights and expertise gained during her successful career, which has included banking, medicine and finance roles.

“We are delighted that such an eminent person has agreed to join our Board. I know that Dr Wilson will assist us as we seek to deliver the quality of aged care that Australians expect and begin to build the innovative models of care that both governments and residents and their families are looking for.”

Dr Wilson said, “The aged care industry is facing an unprecedented time of change – with resident needs and government policy acting as catalysts for providers in the sector to deliver better quality services. It is an exciting time to be involved and I am looking forward to the role I can play in influencing the direction of the business to provide continued high quality, specialist aged care.”

Dr Wilson holds a medical degree from The University of Queensland and a Masters of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.

Dr Wilson is Finance Director of The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, Acting Chancellor of The University of Queensland, a member of The University of Queensland Faculty Of Health Sciences Board, a Director of the General Sir John Monash Foundation and a member of the Institute for Molecular Bioscience Advisory Board.

Dr Wilson joined the Opal Board on 29 January, 2016.
