400 Over-70s Gather for Beach Party

on Friday, October 23, 2015

It was a sight to behold at HBF Stadium Arena in Perth last week as 400 Amana Living residents and social club clients came together for a one-of-a-kind beach party.

The event began at 9:00am with residents arriving in several coaches, buses and taxis. Along with more than 400 residents, there were also 200 support staff and volunteers on site to assist with the live entertainment, dancing and sit-down lunch.

Residents enjoyed performances by Bombshells and Beleza dancers, Akwaaba drummers and popular part band Chain Reaction who did a phenomenal job in creating a beach party atmosphere. Residents and staff alike joined in with the African drumming and Hawaiian dancing.

The arena was beautifully decorated and residents were dressed in colourful beach outfits – many of which included Hawaiian leis.

“The annual Amana Living party is designed to enrich lives by bringing us together for a really special day,” said CEO Ray Glickman.

“I’m proud to say that for many of our residents, this is the highlight of the year, which means we must be getting it right! It’s up there for me too as something I always look forward too – especially seeing our older generation getting up for a dance with our staff and volunteers.”

Established in 1962, and a part of the Anglican Community, Amana Living is one of Western Australia’s largest not-for-profit providers of aged care, accommodation and support via:
