Embracia Aged Care Home Opens in Woodford

Embracia has opened a 75-bed residential aged care home in the charming and historic township of Woodford. Embracia owners Peter and Dawn MacKenzie founded Embracia more than 25 years ago with the philosophy of on ensuring health, wellness and quality of life within our aged care communities. “We encourage everyone to view ageing and moving into aged care as a continuation of a life worth living and where people continue to learn, grow and remain in charge of their destiny, says Dawn MacKenzie. 

This philosophy is evident in all aspects of care, accommodation and lifestyle for the new residents who will be welcomed to Embracia in Woodford from Monday April 13. The home caters for low-level through to high-level care needs of residents and has a dedicated household for residents living with dementia or memory loss.

The experienced manager of the home, Christine Hawkes, has been appointed from another well-respected Embracia home in nearby Beerwah and shares “that it’s the quality of our care and our attention to personalising it, which sets us apart. Embracia residents have the freedom to live as they choose; if a resident wants to get up at a different time every morning, or visit an art gallery for an afternoon, or have friends to meet at our cafe, we are here to support them do that.”

Care and support staff have mostly been engaged from Woodford and the local townships and as with all Embracia employees, have undergone a rigorous induction program in the last few weeks.  

The new home was officially opened by The Hon. Mal Brough, with the opening event also an opportunity to thank the local community’s involvement since its inception. The Woodford community has been instrumental in the development of the home and it is the result of the hard work of the Woodford Aged Care Association who were determined to bring the highest quality of care to Woodford.

Additionally, a local crafting group coordinated by Rhonda Affoo were thanked for their initiative and effort in creating 75 quilts, blankets and rugs that will be gifted to each new resident.

The home was designed by DeNovo and constructed by Wilder Constructions.

At Embracia in Woodford, residents can enjoy the comfort of their own room with private ensuite, built in wardrobe, heating system, ceiling fan and phone point, flat screen TV, as well as a nurse call system. Residents will benefit from home-style meals served in open plan dining and larger living areas that overlook beautifully landscaped gardens, plenty of sunny outdoor sitting areas. Very much living the motto of ‘Person, Family and Community’ the home welcomes private dining areas for special family occasions.
