Leading aged care provider Southern Cross Care (Vic) (SCCV) hosted its annual corporate charity golf day on 2 March, with Aitken Partners providing support again as the co-naming rights sponsor.

Held at the prestigious Yarra Yarra Golf Club in East Bentleigh for the third consecutive year, the 12th Annual SCCV / Aitken Partners Corporate Charity Golf Day attracted close to 100 participants comprising corporate sponsors, SCCV supporters and staff. For the first time, the annual event offered the option to play nine holes which saw four teams signed up.

“Today’s event is of great significance to us. As a not-for-profit organisation, we rely on the continued support of our corporate sponsors and the community to enable us to provide a range of services and programs for our clients and residents,” said Jan Horsnell, Chief Executive Officer of SCCV.

Following a long day on the course, the golfers enjoyed dinner while hearing from guest speaker David Morris, Australia’s first male aerial skier to compete at two consecutive Olympic Games (in 2010 and 2014) and the first Australian to win a medal in the Olympic Men's Aerials.

Silver Medallist, David, kept the audience enthralled as he shared his highs and lows, and his journey to becoming an Olympian. David’s personal story touched the hearts of many people that night, who were inspired by his steely dedication to the sport and his strong determination to achieve his dreams. Today, David remains the country’s most successful male aerial skier.

Close to $30,000 were raised from the event, which included a silent auction and raffle, and will go towards SCCV’s award-winning Imagine Fund to support socially and financially disadvantaged clients and residents, as well as special programs.
