Low barrier to entry for high web impact

on Monday, August 18, 2014

Aged Care Online has partnered with medical web designers Healthsite to bring clients clean, optimised websites at no upfront cost.

Healthsite has been designing and developing in the healthcare space for over ten years. They support a diverse range of businesses offering physiotherapy, dentistry, optical and general practice services.

The Government’s recent Living Longer Living Better reforms are the genesis for Healthsite entering into aged care.

Since July 1, aged care homes have been required to publish their accommodation prices with descriptions, giving consumers the opportunity to make more informed choices.

Healthsite director Lachlan McPherson said aged care facilities without an effective, responsive website will get lost in the increasingly competitive marketplace.

“Consumers that were looking at two to three facilities are now looking at four to five,” Mr McPherson said.

“And they are going online as their first reference.”

People are also spending more time online and viewing more pages than they used to, according to Healthsite’s statistics.

“Our current clients in aged care have an average of five page views per user,” Mr McPherson said.

“They’re not just there to hit once and bounce off.”

He said providers should use the mandatory publishing of prices as a catalyst to improve the overall presentation of their services.

Because now that they have a choice, the consumer is more prudent than ever.

“Sons and daughters of elderly Australians want to be confident that their loved ones are going to be looked after,” Mr McPherson said.

“You will be judged on the look and feel of your website.”

Confident in their own service, Healthsite is offering clients of Aged Care Online a $150 a month ongoing plan with no upfront costs.

“A huge amount of facilities don’t even have a website,” Mr McPherson said.

“What we’re trying to achieve is a low barrier to entry.

“If you’re not on the web, you’re missing out on a big chunk of consumers who are seeking information.”

Aged Care Online director Ben Hannemann said the company is proud to be partnering with Healthsite in providing clients with a reliable and cost effective web design service.

“We look forward to working with Lachlan and his team in delivering aged care providers with a professional and informative online presence,” Mr Hannemann said.

Healthsite will be exhibiting at the LASA National Congress in October.
