Moonee Ponds facility gets first five star rating under new system

on Monday, June 30, 2014

Ardmillan Place in Moonee Ponds is the first aged care facility to receive a five star rating under the new Aged Care Rating System.

The home has recently undergone renovations, including the extension of a new luxury wing, Level Four East, which has rooms looking out over the spectacular panorama of Melbourne’s city skyline.

Ardmillan director Marina Darling said everyone at the facility was very proud to receive the recognition.

“We work extremely hard to ensure all residents receive personalised care, whatever their requirements may be,” Ms Darling said.

“We are very fortunate to have a wonderful location in inner suburban Melbourne with a great deal of space and wonderful views.”

Ms Darling said Ardmillan Place has been described as “a hidden oasis within Melbourne’s city fringe.”

The facility scored high on physical form and resident services with its high ceilings, spacious rooms, excellent onsite amenities, reading rooms and café.

They also excelled in staff culture and resident input.

“We have an array of activities including painting classes, music afternoons, exercise classes and outings,” Ms Darling said.

“We pride ourselves on personalised service and care.”

Around 25 aged care facilities have been rated under the Aged Care Rating System since its Melbourne launch in April and subsequent Sydney launch earlier this month.

The new system gives providers an opportunity to present their service offerings against a consistent set of criteria, as well as assisting the consumer to weigh up their residential care alternatives.

“Choosing an aged care facility can be a difficult and time consuming process and the new rating system provides a level of comfort and peace of mind to the residents and their families,” Ms Darling said.
