BlueCross celebrates its oldest residents

More than 30 residents and their family members turned out for the annual BlueCross birthday party celebrating those who have lived to 97 and beyond.

The guests of honour spanned a decade in age, with the youngest at 97 and the oldest sitting pretty at 107.

Party-goers were sustained on a spread of champagne, chicken sandwiches and cupcakes, as a one-man band crooned along to the classics of bygone eras.

BlueCross CEO Carol Allen said the birthday party is a chance for BlueCross to celebrate its primary philosophy of positive ageing.  

“It gives me great joy to see our residents and clients with their families at events such as these.”

Guest speaker Jane McKinnon certainly had a great time, as she was given the opportunity to share the story of Margaret McKinnon, her 100-year-old mother-in-law.
