Aged care meets luxe living

on Tuesday, March 18, 2014

Moonee Ponds aged care facility Ardmillan Place is set to improve the way people receive care when it opens the doors to a brand new luxury wing this July.

Ardmillan director Marina Darling said the extension reflects the Ardmillan concept of providing apartment-style living within a context of aged care.

The new development has also created the opportunity to reconfigure and refurbish the existing wings, including some additional non-extra-service places.

Level Four East will look out over Melbourne’s magnificent city skyline, which most of the new rooms will enjoy.

“It’s about giving people the type of experience they would expect at a hotel with all the security of a top-quality aged care facility,” Ms Darling said.

When Ardmillan Place first opened ten years ago, it became one of the first aged care facilities to deliver “Ageing in Place," the concept of delivering low care, high care and even palliative care from the same spot.

This meant residents could settle into their surrounds without the looming possibility of upheaval to another location.

Ardmillan now specialises in “Ageing in Place” for couples, which particularly suits the new wing.

“The spacious suites, of up to 50 square metres, are perfect for couples or for singles who want that extra space,” Ms Darling said.

Whether alone or with a partner, each individual will be given the appropriate level of care tailored to their specific needs.

Person-centred care is of the utmost importance to the Ardmillan team, and everyone from the laundry staff to the 24-hour appointed Registered Nurses know their residents by name.

The new wing offers this esteemed brand of care from a place of modern luxury.

“The belief is that people will do better and enjoy life more in an environment which is attractive and spacious.”
