SANE Australia Survey: Over 50s and Mental Illness

on Thursday, November 21, 2013

National mental health charity SANE Australia is looking at the quality of life of people over 50 in Victoria who are living with a mental illness.

Victorians who are over 50 and living with a mental illness and their carers are invited to share their experiences in an online survey.

The survey will explore whether quality of life and mental health symptoms worsen as people living with a mental illness get older. The survey looks at the experiences of older people with a mental illness, their access to support programs, their concerns for the future and their experience with accommodation services.

The survey for carers will measure the difficulties carers face, the failures they see in the system and the support they require.

The findings will be used to make recommendations for improved services and to advocate on behalf of older adults affected by mental illness.

The survey for those living with a mental illness (and are over 50 and living in Victoria) can be found here.

The survey for carer’s can be found here
