Community Care NSW: New Director of Mental Health Services Appointed by Community Care Provider

on Thursday, November 21, 2013

Community Care Provider Care Connect has appointed a new Director of Mental Health Services, Rachel Green who will start on the 28th of January 2013.

“With federal and state governments committed to national mental health reform,
Care Connect supports these reform initiatives with the creation of this new Director of Mental Health Services position” said Care Connect CEO Paul Ostrowski.

Ms Green has previously worked for the National Mental Health Commission, her role will be to develop existing mental health service and strategies, developing ongoing policy guidelines for recovery-orientated mental health services and supporting programs for staff working in the organisation’s mental health services.

“The National Mental Health Commission recently launched ‘A Contributing Life: the 2012 National Report Card on Mental Health and Suicide Prevention’. As the Report Card states, it is essential that mental health is understood as a whole-of-life issue and that mental health continues to be a national priority for all governments and the community” said Mr Ostrowski.

Depression has been revealed to be a major problem for elderly people living in residential aged care, with 1 in 3 residents suffering from depression.
